Today, in Khan Asaad Pasha in Damascus, an exhibition was opened by the international Russian artist Yuri Lenchin, who specializes in the craft of glass blowing, in addition to traditional and artistic works by Syrian artists.
The exhibition, which was held in cooperation between the Russian Cultural Center and the Ministries of Culture and Industry, provided an introduction to the works of the famous Russian craftsman, in addition to shedding light on traditional handicrafts and professions, and folklore professions, to revive them through training young generations on them, and mastering their manufacture.
The artist Linshin, who is considered one of the five most important artists in the world in this field, confirmed in a statement to the cultural tongue that he came to Syria with the aim of acquainting himself with this craft from its source, expressing his regret that it has become very rare, stressing the need to unify efforts to revive it.
He pointed out that he had met with Syrian artisans to reinvigorate this traditional craft work in partnership with the Ministries of Industry and Culture, considering that this partnership would yield useful projects.
Nikolai Sukhov, Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus, confirmed that the aim of the exhibition is not only to display the works of the Russian artist and introduce the public to them, but also to revive this ancient Syrian heritage, given that Syria is the cradle of the glass industry in the world.
He pointed to the great importance of these exhibitions and meetings to exchange experiences and inform the world about Syria's efforts to restore its health and convey the correct image to the world.
