For almost a whole century, Dr.

Gottfried Noske looking back.

His interest in faith, language and politics has kept the sprightly 90-year-old fit.

Waldram – A large wall of books decorates the living room of Dr.

Gottfried Noske.

He is sitting in his large armchair in front of him when Deputy Mayor Günther Eibl and the press came to visit on Wednesday afternoon and the press came.

Born in Silesia, he celebrated his 90th birthday on November 16th.

He is no stranger to Wolfratshausen.

An Esperantist celebrates his 90th birthday - "You have to celebrate as they come"

Noske was deputy headmaster at the then lately appointed seminary in Waldram and 18 years on the Wolfratshausen city council, as chairman of the local branch of the CSU.

Noske is vigorous, mentally and physically.

He does his household chores, goes shopping and drives to Altomünster himself this Saturday to celebrate his birthday with his extended family.

The 90-year-old has an academic politeness without being overbearing, and humbly brushes aside how many languages he speaks.

"If you don't have practice, you lose it," he says.

Esperantist with a gift for languages and internationally active

The teacher, who has a doctorate, studied Latin, Greek, German and history in Munich and Cologne and speaks the worldwide artificial language Esperanto.

For many years Noske was active on the board of the Bavarian and International Association of Esperantists and traveled to conferences and conventions.

"Would you please say something?" And already a kind of gibberish of Latin, Italian and French is bubbling out of him.

Kept fit by interest in language, politics and faith

His great interest in language, in the Catholic religion - he was a church minister and parish councilor in Waldram - and politics kept the 90-year-old fit, although he had to accept a number of serious blows of fate, illnesses and losses.

Expelled from Silesia to the Bavarian Forest

Now back to zero hour.

Noske was born on November 16, 1932 in Breslau, the tenth of twelve children.

After the expulsion from Silesia, the family lived in the Bavarian Forest.

The father became a member of the state parliament.

This is how he became interested in politics.

Gottfried Noske married his wife Albertine in 1958 and moved to Waldram in 1960.

Six children were born.

Despite heavy blows of fate - always in a positive mood

The worst happened in 2013. His wife died unexpectedly of a heart attack and a year later his youngest child Gerhard died at the age of 42, also from heart failure.

But Noske has not lost his positive way of accepting life as it comes.

He is looking forward to Saturday: "You have to celebrate festivals as they come."
