Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, during a phone call, the progress of the implementation of the settlement agreements in the Karabakh region concluded between Armenia and Azerbaijan with Russian mediation.
The Kremlin stated in a statement that “the two presidents discussed the implementation of the agreements reached in Sochi on the 31st of last month between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the previous joint statements of the three countries, where the importance of continuing work within the tripartite framework to ensure security on the borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia was emphasized. And the resumption of transport in the South Caucasus.
The statement indicated that Putin and Aliyev also discussed prospects for developing cooperation between Moscow and Baku in the field of energy.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on the twenty-eighth of last month that his country agreed to work towards a settlement with Azerbaijan on the basis of the principles proposed by Russia.
