The attack on journalists from La Sexta when they were investigating the Jodorovichs: "It is the worst attack in 12 years"

“This is what you get for talking about family. This is how you will learn," the attackers snapped at the reporters, according to the complaint filed with the Mossos

The attack suffered by a group of reporters from the

Investigation Team

program (La Sexta) on the 10th in the Barcelona Free Zone is unprecedented.

"It is the worst attack we have suffered in 12 years," say sources from the program, which was broadcast for the first time in January 2011. Officially, they are prudent about what happened so as not to interfere in the police investigation, or in the physical and psychology of journalists.

The Mossos are investigating the attack, which took place less than two weeks ago.

The reporters were in Barcelona, working on a story about the Jodorovich dynasty, a very large family known for police operations that implicate its members in drug trafficking and money laundering.

For years, most of them have lived in Plaça de Falset, located in the Sants district.

After carrying out their work in the area, when the reporters were already returning to their vehicle, in a street near the plaza, they were surprised by a group of hooded men.

With the car already moving, they took one of them out of the vehicle, hit him repeatedly, and took his camera and memory cards.

“We had warned you.

This is what happens for talking about family and this is what happens for messing with the family.

That's how you'll learn.

The report is over ”, is stated in the complaint filed with the Mossos.

From the La Sexta program they assure that the team continues to work, without it being yet clear if they will continue or not with this report.

The family, which is very large, has not wanted to comment on what happened.

Sources close to the clan, however, distance themselves from the aggression against the journalists and assure that they have learned about what happened through the media.

In an area where the presence of the Jodorovichs is very intense and makes itself felt, these same sources point to the possibility that the motive for the attack is the theft of the recording material.

A family under the police spotlight

The Jodorovich family has been the protagonist since the 1970s in the Catalan police and judicial chronicle.

In the beginning, they were investigated and arrested on various occasions for violent robberies, mainly of tourists, in coastal areas of Girona.

The group was made up of, among others, the matriarch of the clan, now deceased, Luisa Jodorovich, and her husband, also deceased, Antonio Montero.

Both had eight children and with them the great dynasty of the Montero Jodorovich was born.

Investigators from different police forces are convinced that they are engaged in large-scale drug trafficking through the port of Barcelona, at the end of the Zona Franca promenade, which they have turned into their fortress.

In 2011, Aquilino Montero Jodorovich was sentenced to 19 years in prison for drug trafficking and depositing weapons together with his three children (Antonio,

Manuel and Simón), but all of them were finally acquitted by the Supreme Court due to a formal error in the investigation that led to the annulment of the wiretaps and the records.

Without evidence, there was no conviction.

A Barcelona court is currently keeping an investigation open (at a very advanced stage) against Simón Montero Jodorovich, who is now the leader in the family, for money laundering: the Mossos d'Esquadra have delved into the properties and the Familiar patrimony.

Simón is a character with ancestry among the gypsy community since he has chaired, since 2013, the Federation of Gypsy Associations of Catalonia (Fagic) and, in addition, has cultivated relationships in the institutional sphere, including various honorary consuls of Barcelona who are also being investigated in the same cause.
