The Union of Rabbis convened against the background of the inclusion of female cadets in the Armored Corps officers' course • The council called for anchoring in the coalition agreements and legislation the right and duty of the soldier who observes the Halacha • The IDF: "The claims are not true, the course consists of one company, which contains a gender section"

"The IDF is increasingly operating in a way that separates Halacha-observant soldiers from different units in the army," the Council of the Settlement Yeshiva Union said in a statement at the end of a meeting last night (Monday).

Last night the Rabbinical Council of the Hesder Yeshiva Union met following the information emerging from the field about the mixing of male and female soldiers in the Armored Officers Course.

Yesterday it was announced in News 12 that three female cadets were also included in the officers' course that opened this week in the Armored Corps in a manner that allegedly contradicts the joint service order.

According to the order, religious soldiers will only serve in an all-male company.

However, due to the fact that the officer course has only one company, female cadets were also included in it.

The announcement is signed by the rabbis of the Hesder Yeshiva Union Council, including the president of the Hesder Yeshiva Union Council Rabbi Haim Druckman, Rabbi Shmuel Haber, Rabbi Shlomo Rosenfeld, Rabbi Zvi Kostiner, Rabbi David Pandel, Rabbi Yoel Manowitz and Rabbi Eyal Greiner.

The Hesder Yeshiva Union Council expressed opposition to the growing phenomenon of the mixing of the manipulative formation in the IDF and the actual exclusion of Halacha-observing soldiers from growing parts of the manipulative formation.

In addition to this, the council demands that the IDF resolve the issue and allow the soldiers in this course and elsewhere to serve according to their faith. Further to this, the council called for anchoring in the coalition agreements and legislation the right and duty of the halacha-observing soldier to serve according to the halacha.

The Israel Defense Forces responded: "The claims made in the letter are not true.

The armor officer course consists of one company, which contains a gender division.

All yeshiva soldiers were offered to move to the gender section if they were interested in it.

The joint service order is maintained throughout the course, while meeting the needs of the soldiers without distinction.

The staff of the military rabbinate are in close contact with the commanders in Shizphon, in order to jointly ensure optimal conduct and in accordance with orders."
