With the Navigo pass, there is only one certainty: its price will increase.

It remains to be seen by how much, and who will pay.

Valérie Pécresse hopes to contain the monthly rate at around 80 euros, against 75.20 euros currently.

On the condition, she says, that the government legislates to increase the mobility payment for Ile-de-France businesses which “must accept their share of the effort”.

But if the mobility payment, a tax on companies with more than 11 employees to finance transport, does not increase, "it's going to 90 euros" from 2023, insists the president of the Île-de- France and patroness of the regional transport authority Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM).

“The local authorities told me yes to increase their contribution by 7.5%”, she continues, and the price of the pass could in all likelihood increase in the same proportions, or around 80 euros per month.

Valérie Pécresse therefore wants the mobility payment to also be increased by 7.5%, a provision that only the government can take.

750 million to find

The Minister of the Economy, "Bruno Le Maire, said that the baguette should not increase too much, well it must be the same for the metro", launched Valérie Pécresse again during a visit to the Alstom sites in Crespin and Petite-Forêt (Nord) to discover the new rolling stock ordered by IDFM for the Paris metro and the RER.

Currently, local authorities finance transport in the Ile-de-France region up to 12%, travelers 38% and businesses 50%.

The president of the Île-de-France region wishes to maintain this balance in the same way.

She also recalled that, whatever happens, "the investment plans would be maintained" with the operation of the new lines of the Grand Paris Express, the extensions of the RER E or line 14, and the purchase of new trains and subways.

"I won't sacrifice the offer either," she promised, as she recently asked the RATP to return to 100% of the pre-Covid offer as soon as possible.

An IDFM board meeting is due to take place on December 7 to decide on funding options for 2023. It is necessary to find 750 million euros to allow the launch of tests on the new lines and pay the energy bill which should explode l 'next year.
