"Some people say that my brother is connected to the murder of their mother":

claims the brother of Ahed al-Sana, the 26-year-old groom who was shot and seriously injured yesterday (Friday) when he was shot while traveling in the wedding convoy that was on its way to fetch the bride.

He dismisses outright the police version that there is a blood feud between the different factions in the family.

"There is no conflict, some people say that my brother is connected to the murder of their mother last October. They say he is the murderer. It is not him. They did not follow Bedouin law. They did not inquire or anything."

The brother tells about the attack on the convoy.

"We were driving from Lakia, we were blocked by four cars, they blocked me, I continued driving until they blocked me with GMS. They got out of the car and started shooting. There were more than seven people, I saw them and I know who they are. The police came to me and we told them who it was."

Al-Sana' expects the police to catch the shooters, "The police should reach the people and do their job, arrest them and bring them to court. The man (his brother, AG) is not related to the murder at all, not related at all.

He was a suspect, he was questioned and he was released."

He also said that if justice is not done to the offenders, according to him, they will go according to the "Bedouin law", also, he expressed great sorrow regarding cases of this type, "because the police are not doing their job, people are taking the law into their own hands, and this is what will continue to happen".

As mentioned, a 26-year-old resident of Lakia from the Al-Sana'a family was seriously injured in an attack on a wedding convoy on Route 60. The young man was taken to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva on his own.

The police arrived at the scene and began investigating the circumstances of the incident.

At the end of a situation assessment conducted at the scene by the commander of the Negev region, the police claimed that the background to the incident was apparently a blood feud within a family.
