Iranian police announced today that they had seized more than a ton of drugs during an operation they carried out in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, in the center of the country.
The commander of the internal security forces in the province, Brigadier General Manujhar Amanullahi, said, "The anti-drug police forces of the province were able, through intelligence monitoring operations, to detect and eliminate a gang that was intending to smuggle a large shipment of drugs," explaining that during the operation, 1,100 kilograms of drugs were seized. Drugs and confiscation of six cars that were in the possession of the gang and the arrest of 7 of its members.
Aman Allahi confirmed that finding the rest of the gang members and the parties collaborating with them is on the agenda of the anti-narcotics police in the province.
The Iranian authorities continue their efforts to combat this dangerous scourge, with more than 3,800 dead and 12,000 disabled police and security personnel as they pursued smuggling gangs operating in several regions of the country.
