The prosecutor's office on Thursday requested a prison sentence against the manager of a mosque in Grande-Synthe (North) prosecuted for several offenses including breach of trust, laundering of tax fraud, fraud in social benefits but also opening of a clandestine school.
The prosecutor Amélie Le Sant requested against the defendant, Amirouche O., three years of imprisonment including one year accompanied by a probationary suspension for two years, but also the definitive prohibition to direct a school establishment or to work. teach there.
This man, a member of the “

” movement, a current born in India which promotes a proselytizing and apolitical vision of Islam, remained silent during the hearing.

The sources of his trial before the criminal court of Dunkirk, an investigation into the opaque financing of two properties he acquired in Grande-Synthe: one houses the association which manages the Al Houda mosque, the other a association whose purpose is the school support of children.
These premises were purchased in the name of the defendant, while he and his wife, parents of six children, had declared no income since 2011 and said they lived on social and family benefits.

During a search, the investigators also discovered a classroom within the mosque, leading to an incidental investigation for “
illegal opening of a private educational establishment
” and concealed work of teachers.
Amirouche O. is also being prosecuted for not having declared the rents generated by one of his properties and for having continued the activities of the mosque when the town hall had issued a closure order at the end of 2018 due to breaches of security rules.
His sister Fatiha B. also appeared, accused among other things of having embezzled for the benefit of her brother donations intended for the school support association, of which she was president.
