Only when there is change can there be no change.

Artist Di Jia moved to the UK last year and admitted that there have been many changes in his life. In recent months, he held an exhibition in Hong Kong again. The latest batch of creations, with gray and white as the main tone, uses ink and auspicious clouds to draw many cartoon and movie characters familiar to Hong Kong people. , Ding Dong, Xiao Yun, Batman, Star Wars White Soldier, Iron Man... Their forms in the painting seem to be dissipating clouds in the sky.

The main theme of gray and white, and the disappearance of the people in the painting, can not help but imagine that Dijia was unhappy and uncomfortable after moving to the UK. He responded with a smile, and there are indeed many things to adapt to when he arrives, but taking away the colorful colors in his works is just to think Gently talk to the painting appreciators, hoping to gently comfort those who have experienced countless changes: "When you are negative to the end, you have to live in an optimistic way. ... I am not going to cheer you up, but at least lightly Pat you on the shoulder, or give you a hug."

Dijia moved to the UK last year. Not long after he left Hong Kong, he held a solo exhibition in Hong Kong with the theme "See you again".

A year later, Di Jia held another exhibition in Hong Kong. This time, he borrowed one of the lyrics of Anita Mui's "Looking at the Sky" as the theme, and exhibited a series of paintings with gray and white as the main tone.

Looking back at Dijia’s previous works, whether it is the Star Wars New Year pictures, the opera version of the Marvel hero "Liyuan Restorer", the "Shihaoxi" series, or the new version of "The Cat and Me" exhibited last year, most of them are colorful.

Looking at the sky, do you miss it?

Seeing the new batch of works, one can't help but wonder whether he was uncomfortable and unhappy after moving to the UK. After hearing these worries, Di Jia said with a smile that moving to the UK is indeed a big change in life. Emotional ups and downs, there are many things in life to adapt to, but he quickly understood that he had to let go of his past life experience and learn to appreciate or understand the culture and living habits of the local people. Every decision has pros and cons.”

After arriving in the UK, Dijia would often look at the sky in the garden of his home. This is extended to a series of works exhibited this time. Inspired by clouds, he maintains a consistent style of blending Chinese and foreign cultures, and paints a lot of companionship with ink and auspicious clouds. He and countless Hong Kong people grew up in the form of disappearing animation and movie characters, and continued to use the "gold paste" technique to leave a little gold leaf on the disappearing part of each character.

With gray and white as the main tone, he said frankly that he hopes to get rid of unnecessary distractions, and does not want to have too many colors to guide people who appreciate the painting, so that everyone can concentrate on their feelings.

The dissipated anime and movie characters only want to bring out a situation. "In fact, everyone is facing the same situation. The whole world is changing, and there are many different places. They are so unstable."

As for leaving a bit of gold in the dissipated figures, what does that mean?

Dijia said that everyone has a different feeling when looking at a work of art. In the midst of changes, what is changing and what is not. He has no preset answer, and only hopes that the viewer can make their own choices and decisions.

Can Ding Dong not grow old?

Among the exhibited works, Di Jia said that "Stand by you", where Hua Jingdang is disappearing, made him feel the deepest.

He recalled that when he was creating, the image of watching Ding Dong at home appeared in his mind. To him, Ding Dong was like a friend who had been with him for a long time but disappeared in the end. My friend said goodbye, but we have to continue to live. After thinking about this matter, what attitude should we use to continue to live? Should I just keep the golden part and continue to live? ?”

In the face of change, how to deal with oneself, he said very calmly: "When you are negative to the end, you have to live in a positive way." In his eyes, Hong Kong people have changed several times in recent years, especially under the epidemic situation, many epidemic prevention measures, It is inevitable to be tired, and I hope to use this exhibition to cheer up those who appreciate the paintings, "I am not going to cheer you up with loud drums, but at least I will pat you on the shoulder lightly, or give you a hug."
