The Magistrate's Court in Rishon Lezion today (Tuesday) extended by three days the arrest of the foreman at the construction site in Givat Ze'ev, where two workers were killed yesterday as a result of collapsing scaffolding.
The manager was arrested yesterday along with two other suspects.
Also, a stop work order was issued and the site was closed.
The accident happened late yesterday morning, when the scaffolding in the 12-story Rakef building in Givat Ze'ev collapsed.
As a result of the collapse, two workers were killed, whose bodies were recovered from the rubble.
A laborer was also moderately injured in the accident and several shock victims were treated at the scene.
Seven rescue teams worked on the spot to locate more trapped people, who were rescued from the ruins.
At the same time, the police investigators began examining and collecting evidence and findings at the scene, at the same time representatives of the Ministry of Labor arrived on the scene to investigate the case.
The MDA medics said: "When we arrived there was a commotion and we heard shouting, we saw a pile of scaffolding that had collapsed from a height of a 12-story building, we noticed a number of workers who were walking around the place after having an anxiety attack, we tried to get information from the site managers about how many workers were working at the place at the same time to make sure that everyone was located .
"Three workers were trapped under the scaffolding, the first one was rescued fully conscious suffering from bruises to his stomach and limbs, after many minutes another worker was rescued, a man in his thirties, with multi-system injuries without signs of life and in a short time we had to determine his death, after almost two hours of complex rescue operations And from the ropes, the third worker who was captured was pulled out, with no signs of life and his death was pronounced on the spot," the medics said.
Hassan Waedan, a worker who was working near the collapsed scaffolding, told the news here: "I was right next to it when the scaffolding suddenly fell. I called the workers on it and yelled at them to run away. Nothing caught the scaffolding, it was all hanging on an iron wire. We alerted the contractor, but it didn't Helped. The foreman told us to finish the job, he wasn't interested."
