Damascus, SANA - The Ministry of Culture and the Syrian cultural community mourned the lyricist Safouh Shaghala, who passed away today.

The Ministry of Culture and the Syrian cultural community mourned the lyricist Safouh Shaghala, who passed away today at the age of 66.

The late, born in Aleppo 1956, has been writing lyrical poetry since 1985.

Most of the singers of Aleppo and Syria sang from his lyrics, including Samir Jareks, Hamam Khairi, Nour Muhanna, Majed Akkad, Safwan Abed, Waddah Shibli, Mayada Basilis, Nadia Al-Manfoukh, Shahd Barmada, Ruwaida Attia, Howaida, Samara Al-Samara, Kenana Al-Qusayr, Wafiq Habib, Sarah Farah, Nancy Zaablay and Reem Nasri.

The Sultan of Tarab also sang George Wassouf, one of his most famous songs, Doctor Surgeon and You Lose Your Bet.

As for the Arab world, he sang from his words Aline Khalaf, Basma, Joanna Mallah, Dina Hayek, Cyrine Abdel Nour, Claudia Al-Shamali, George Al-Rassi and Walid Tawfik.

His songs were composed by many composers, including Nihad Najjar, George Mardir, Sian, Shaker Al-Moji, Salah Al-Sharnoubi, Imad Shams Al-Din, Tariq Abu Jaoudeh, Yahya Al-Hassan, Wissam Al-Amir, Algerian composer Fadel Noubli, Siraj Dabbagh, Sami Sankari and Kamel Bazarbashi, and his lyrical archive contains more than 1,650 songs.
