The Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, discussed today with Dr. Ghada Kachaji, the deputy representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Syria, and the accompanying delegation, mechanisms for developing educational cooperation between the ministry and the organization.
During the meeting, the outcomes of the workshop, which was held in cooperation between the two sides, were discussed to review the proposed safe schools model and set subsequent action steps through holding workshops at the level of Syria.
During the meeting, which was held at the Ministry's building, Minister Tabbaa pointed out the necessity of clarifying the action plan to achieve good results.
In her turn, Dr. Kachaji emphasized the importance of focusing during the executive action plan on out-of-school adolescents and developing a code of conduct.
For her part, Patricia Rudy, the organization's social development expert, pointed out the need to spread a culture of positive behavior among children, teachers and the family, and to activate teachers and parents' councils, and the necessity of designing a media framework based on the School Code of Conduct, which can be developed in coordination between the ministry and the organization and focus on youth and adolescents.
The meeting was attended by the director of the Education Department, an official in the Behavioral and Community Change Department, a specialist in the Education Department, the Acting Director of the Child Protection Department, an official in the Adolescent Development and Participation Department, and the Director of Planning and International Cooperation from the Ministry's side.
