Unterhaching
– An honor was actually on the agenda, but Udo Grafe intervened in this timing of the Unterhaching municipal council meeting.
With an announcement on his own behalf: The treasurer is leaving the community of Unterhaching, which is struggling to survive financially, at the end of March.
The 51-year-old emphasizes that his departure has nothing to do with the acute difficulties in the municipality.
In the Unterhaching town hall for 16 years
"Nothing in the history of life is more constant than change": Udo Grafe began his farewell declaration with a quote from Charles Darwin.
He has been employed in the finance department for 16 years and has even been its boss since 2020 - after Peter Lautenschlager retired.
But now?
"I have decided to devote myself to new tasks and challenges."
lockdown and lack of money
In view of the budget freeze and lack of money, there is less of a challenge than ever for a guardian of municipal finances, but Udo Grafe emphasizes that he made his decision to change regardless of the misery: At 51, he was probably the last time he was old enough for such a job Change.
He will draw up the 2023 budget for the municipality, which has been hit by trade tax shortfalls, for the last time.
Beautiful experiences
"I look back on great hours, days, years and many joint projects," summed up Grafe.
"After such a long time I have a crying eye - but with a laughing eye I'm looking forward to the new task." Where and in which function this will be, he did not want to reveal.
Please don't speculate
Mayor Wolfgang Panzer (SPD) hastened to counteract speculation about dissonance: "No, there is nothing between us, we get along very well." He clearly loses a town hall employee in this prominent position "with a crying eye".
The successor to Udo Grafe as treasurer of the community is still open.
