Alex Saab, a businessman of Colombian origin and an ally of the government of the questioned president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, appealed this Wednesday the ruling of a judge in Florida who refused to dismiss the charge of conspiracy to commit money laundering that weighs against you.
In a document from the Court of the Southern District of Florida, it is stated that Saab filed an appeal against Judge Robert Scola's ruling to uphold the money laundering charge, arguing that the defense could not demonstrate that the diplomatic immunity of the Saab allegedly enjoyed at the time of his arrest in Cape Verde complied with the requirements of international law.
