Tartous-Sana
Members of the Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Directorate in Tartous seized a car loaded with about 8,800 cans of yerba mate, with the intention of selling them on the black market, during a tour of the markets.
Bashar Shaddoud, Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Tartous, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the car, which was carrying large quantities of the substance and did not carry any invoices, was seized with the intention of selling it on the black market at excessive prices.
Shaddoud pointed out that the seized quantities amounted to about 170 cartons, containing 5,600 boxes of 200 grams, and 3,200 boxes of 500 grams, as the seizure was organized and the necessary legal measures were taken.
Shaddoud pointed out that the Directorate's patrols are continuing their field tours to monitor and control the markets, and the stability of the prices of materials to prevent their monopoly and provide them to all citizens.
