Mice are annoying and you don't want rodents in the house - but you don't have to kill them.

A live trap is a compromise.

Mice may look cute, but they are considered pests because they transmit diseases and also breed quickly.

They can also chew on cables, causing serious damage and noise.

If you find a mouse in your apartment, in the attic or in the basement, you can catch it alive and release it outside.

Especially when it gets colder outside, not only spiders seek shelter and food in the house - rodents like the mouse are also drawn to the warmth.

The bucket trap is the most popular for control, as this type of live trap uses materials that everyone has at home.

  • Place a bucket that is at least 10 inches high, upside down, near where you suspect the mouse or its hiding place.

You can also use another tall container, but it should have a smooth wall, as mice are good climbers.

  • Put a bait in the middle of the bucket.

Bacon, cheese, breadcrumbs, but also Nutella or peanut butter are suitable.

  • Stack boxes or books in front of the bucket so that there is a kind of staircase that the mouse can climb up.

Make sure the stairs are stable so they won't wobble or break when the mouse climbs them.

It is unlikely that the animal will climb it a second time.

The distance between the individual steps should not be too high, so that it is made as easy as possible for the mouse.

  • Also, place some bait on each step to attract the mouse and make sure it climbs to the top of the bucket.

  • Now she spots the bait in the bucket itself and will either fall in trying to get it or voluntarily climb into the bucket from which she can't get out.
