Employees of US President Joe Biden apparently found secret government documents at a second location.

This is reported by NBC News and CNN.

They cite unnamed sources who are familiar with the case.

It became public on Monday that Biden had kept secret documents from his time as Vice President Barack Obama in his private offices at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, DC.

Biden used the space after he left the vice presidential post in 2017 until about 2020, the White House said.

The files are reported to include at least 10 top-secret documents, some of which are top-class classified.

Biden then explained that the find "surprised" him and that he did not know who put the documents there.

At the same time, he promised "full cooperation" in the investigation.

After this first find in November, Biden employees searched other locations for government documents, according to current media reports.

There has been no confirmation from the White House or the Justice Department.

The content of the documents, the location and the time of the discovery are still unclear.

According to NBC News, it is again classified documents.

The White House dodged critical questions about the first find on Wednesday and only referred to a statement from Monday.

Spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre refused to talk about why the White House had not made the find public much earlier.

The documents were discovered in November just before the midterm elections - CBS News was the first to report it.

Jean-Pierre pointed out that the Justice Department is investigating the case and that she will not comment on it.

The find is politically extremely sensitive for Biden, because his predecessor Donald Trump caused a scandal in the summer with a similar case.
