Opinion From fraternal alliance to fraternal war Israel today

2023-01-12T19:56:27.497Z

The judiciary is facing a determination it has never known - and it will do everything to protect itself • The opposition leaders, on the other hand, are heating up the atmosphere to create a wave on which they can surf all the way to the leadership

As of the time of writing these lines, the State of Israel is not yet in a fratricidal or civil war.

Before tanks were injured in Ayalon, we had not yet seen roadblocks between Tel Aviv and its districts, fighters had not been seen wandering or engaged in house-to-house fighting between a fence and a fence.

In Israel, there was no attack on the sleeves of the planes either, by crowds trying to escape the horrors of the war in the sinking Jewish state. The queues for flights leaving for vacations, on the other hand, are still long.

The war drums of the Left Bloc leadership, whose main drummers are Knesset members Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid, echo in an almost empty space.

Opponents of the government will protest, but the vast majority understand the difference between a legitimate protest and setting the streets on fire.

This is of course not proof that there are not many Israelis who feel distressed by the new government's policies, but the citizens of the country are busy with their own and are reluctant to put on a uniform.

Who has time to attack his neighbors with submachine guns, when you have to put them to bed and provide for the children or plan a Friday dinner with family or friends.

About protesters and hitchhikers

The prophecy of rage and the silent prayer that a civil uprising will be stirred up over us accompanied by popular resistance, shaking the streets and a war on the house - do not seem like a reasonable possibility to anyone, including Gantz and Lapid.

But they serve as an excellent tool in a political - but real, tangible and cruel - war between the prophecies of the horrors.

A political battle.

Between opposition leader Yair Lapid, Blue and White leader Benny Gantz, and Labor leader Rav Michaeli Nitsch, there is an intense political battle for dominance in the Hark-la-Bibi bloc, and the protests are a wave that each of them would like to catch. Lapid focuses on gasoline spills and apocalyptic videos And full of pathos - and not a few exaggerations. But as usual - that others would fight. He himself sipped a cafe au lait in Paris while demonstrators who supposedly responded to his call took to the streets, and he did not even confirm his participation in the expected demonstration this coming Saturday evening. The country is indeed on the brink of an abyss, but From the Eiffel, despair becomes more comfortable. Israel has become Hungary, but you can also protest from the heated room in Ramat Aviv.

Gantz, on the other hand, tried to choose a different strategy.

Before the destruction of the Temple, Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai escaped from besieged Jerusalem, and begged the Romans to "give me Yavneh and her sages."

Gantz, who even before the elections predicted the end of the country, tried to ask the Likud: "Give me Saladin and Tupriya."

He offered negotiations, reached out for reconciliation and tried in many ways to enter the government, or at least to open a dialogue channel that might lead to this.

Only when he got the cold shoulder did he decide to change course and join his political rival Lapid.

who knows?

Perhaps Gantz is afraid that if he deviates from the rut, some investigation case against him may suddenly emerge or return from the freezer, for example in the case of the fifth dimension.

In such a situation, it is very useful to signal which side you are on.

Marev Michaeli, the junior partner in the opposition, also publishes statements and videos of destruction with limited success, usually to try to pick some fruits of her own incitement.

The real battle going on in Israel right now is not between citizens, nor does it really concern legal reform.

This is a political battle between elected officials trying to ride on the tiger's back to gain power, respect and dominance.

This week the Minister of Justice came to the Constitutional Committee hearing to present his plans.

The members of the opposition did not find even one substantial question or a single objective objection to slam Levin.

The short and purposeless discussion mainly consisted of shouting, hysteria and a sense of panic.

Even counter-proposals or demands for amendments to the reform are not heard in the midst of the calls to Mary and the never-ending comparisons to Germany and the Nazi certification laws.

The outgoing Minister of Justice, Gideon Sa'ar, will hold a conference where the reforms of Minister Levin will be discussed in the light of Menachem Begin's teaching.

The guest of honor at the conference is expected to be former President Robbie Rivlin, who coined the nickname "the rule of law gang", accused the prosecutor's office of sewing cases and himself went through a thwarting attempt when he was appointed Minister of Justice.

Sa'ar wants to flank his partners Gantz and Lapid on the right and on the left at the same time.

He avoids inflammatory rhetoric, but disapproves of the legal plan;

He is the biggest critic of Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Likud, but sticks to the Begin path - at least as he sees it.

To this political stew it is appropriate to add the figures who do not sit in the Knesset.

Moshe (Bogie) Ya'alon took upon himself the organization of the demonstrations and their leadership, Tzipi Livni the injury after a long period of absence, everyone wants to inherit the leadership of the left bloc, and the way to the coveted throne is to "burn the streets", as Knesset member Michal Shir defined it this week.

Hand in hand with his brother all the way to the king's throne.

Legal obstruction

The political struggle is expected to intensify, and with it the declarations and calls for torches and sledgehammers in the streets.

There is no fraternal war, but one Evil is enough to take action;

He will seek revenge on the ultra-Orthodox who "stole his money", he will think that if Levin's rival is only moved out of the way - everything will be back to the way it was.

The last demonstration was already violent, when MK Ayman Odeh was slapped by a violent protester. The reason was the joint list's failure to prevent the overthrow of the previous government.

In the law enforcement system and the Supreme Court, reality is viewed with closed eyes.

Politicians like Benny Gantz are convenient figures for the system.

Even politicians like Gideon Sa'ar, who come seemingly with pretensions to lead reforms in the system and change the system, have proven to be relatively easy to align.

But this time, apparently, the system is faced by political forces with energy and motivation of a kind that has never been here before, and above all - with enough familiarity, knowledge and practical experience regarding what happens in the prosecutor's office.

Faced with such determination, there is a chance that the system will activate all its moves.

Unfortunately, we know all too well what the system knows how to do when it needs to defend against changes.

Ask Rafoul, Avigdor Kahalani, Yaakov Naman and many others who were labeled as dangerous to the rule of the jurists, and found themselves facing unfounded indictments.

What are some small legal setbacks to prevent a civil war.
