It is a small but further step towards normality: With the mask requirement in February, the prescribed protection in medical practices also falls, at least for employees.

The country is now cashing in on all the conditions.

The federal government decides on further easing.

Stuttgart – The state will also collect the last Corona requirements, which it can decide for itself: from February, employees in medical practices and other outpatient medical facilities in Baden-Württemberg will no longer have to wear masks.

A corresponding relaxation is part of the planned Corona regulation, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Health on Friday.

According to the current status, however, the mask requirement for patients and visitors will continue to apply until April 7th.

First, the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) reported on the partial cancellation in the practices.

Officially, the Corona regulation should be decided on Tuesday, it would then come into force on January 31st.

Even in homeless shelters, mouth and nose protection would then no longer have to be worn.

The mask requirement in local public transport will also be lifted from this day on.

The state government had already announced this in mid-January, but left the regulation for practices open.

With the new Corona regulation, all regulations that the state can issue would be repealed.

Other requirements such as the obligation to wear masks in hospitals and care facilities or the regulation for patients and visitors to medical practices are also decided by the federal government, as are the test requirements in clinics and care and old people’s homes.

"In the current epidemiological situation - the transition from the pandemic to the endemic - there is no need for the continued application of the mask requirements directed at the population in the Corona Ordinance from an infectious disease point of view," says the ministry's cabinet draft of the planned regulation.

"In this respect, the transition to using masks on one's own responsibility is possible." It is currently sufficient to recommend wearing mouth and nose protection, especially in publicly accessible indoor areas and in local transport.

The health policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, Michael Preusch, welcomed the lifting of the mask requirement for staff in medical practices.

The Minister of Social Affairs should now work with the Federal Minister of Health to ensure that the test and mask requirements in hospitals and care facilities are lifted or significantly relaxed.

The federal corona rules are still valid until April 7th.

Among other things, they stipulate that passengers on long-distance trains and buses must wear a mask.

The federal states issue the rules for local transport.
