A citizen in Obernach made a terrible discovery on Tuesday evening: near the bus stop on Bundesstraße 11, at a small moat, the man found a dead calf with a rope around its neck under the bridge.

In the years 2021 and 2019, dead and mostly already badly decomposed cattle were found in this area, the cause of death of which could no longer be determined.
When asked by our newspaper, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district office reported three dead calves that were found on the toll road between Wallgau and Vorderriß in January 2021.
"The investigations came to nothing," reports spokesman Stephan Scharf.
There were no more ear tags to be found.
The report to the office was then made "from the peasantry".
In February 2021, the carcass of a Murnau-Werdenfels calf was also found on the toll road, reports the Kochel police.
Due to the strong signs of animal feeding, no further investigations could be carried out.
A case from 2019 is also known – in the same forest.
Here, too, the investigation came to nothing.

On Wednesday morning, veterinarians from the Tölz district office wanted to look at the carcass and examine it more closely.
However, when they got to the spot, the carcass was gone.
Police believe it was taken by the same person who put it there earlier.
According to eyewitnesses, it was still there in the early hours of the morning.
With the disappearance of the animal, the investigations for the Tölz district office are now also difficult, as press spokeswoman Marlis Peischer says.
If there was a suspicion of animal cruelty, the public prosecutor would be involved.
From the point of view of the police, the illegal disposal of animal carcasses constitutes an administrative offence. This is punished with a fine.

The investigative work has now started at the police station in Kochel.
It is a Murnau-Werdenfelser calf.

It is still unclear whether the animal, which was probably only a few days old, died at birth or died afterwards.

Dead calf discarded: It is not the first case in the region
It is not the first case of this kind in the Obernach-Walchensee region. Last October, while walking, a woman found an already skeletonized animal next to the Obernacher Bach, which flows into the Walchensee.
The location is in the immediate vicinity.
"I thought I was going to get a blow," Vevi Sturm reported on Wednesday in an interview with our newspaper when she reported on the incident in autumn 2022.
Skulls and bones were spread out over several meters.
It was an adult cow with horns.
"It's unbelievable that someone put this here." She reported the find to the police.
However, the person responsible could not be found.
Sturm also reports a lot of dirt and plastic waste, such as agricultural silo tarps, found in the area.

This carcass was discovered in October 2022 next to the Obernacher Bach, which flows into Lake Walchen.

In 2021, according to the Kochel police, a dead animal was discovered in this area, namely on the toll road to Wallgau on Garmischer Flur, which someone had obviously left there.
