Special envoy to Aydin
Despite the biting cold, thousands of hands wave Turkish flags and make the rallying sign of the Muslim Brotherhood, four fingers raised and the thumb folded against the palm, for the arrival on stage of Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Saturday, February 4, in Aydin, a provincial town in western Turkey, the Turkish president made his supporters wait more than two hours before taking the microphone.
As ministers and deputies take turns at the podium to make the crowd wait, some, discouraged, turn their heels before the appearance of the head of state, leaving an assembly sparse in places.
A traditional orange and white fringed scarf from the region's countryside resting on his shoulders, Recep Tayyip Erdogan tries to revive his chilled supporters:
"Are you ready to go all together to vote on May 14 and make a once again blow up the ballot box?
Your support is very important!”
