The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the United States is exerting pressure on African countries that wish to participate in the second Russia-Africa summit this year.
“Without a doubt, all of this is in the public domain and it is easy to read that on the Internet based on the statements made by Western partners, including those who come to African countries,” Novosti agency quoted the ministry’s ambassador for special missions, Oleg Ozerov, as saying today. This is blatant blackmail,” noting that African countries are sovereign states that possess their own independence and political will, and that they can take decisions that respond to their national interests themselves.
It is noteworthy that the Russia-Africa Summit and the Russia-Africa Economic Forum were held in 2019 in Sochi, southern Russia, and discussed a wide range of common issues, including the state and prospects of relations between Russia and the countries of the African continent and the development of ties in all fields.
