A youth initiative to draw a smile on the faces of children in shelters in Aleppo

Aleppo, SANA- The branch of the Revolutionary Youth Union in Aleppo formed a team of psychological support specialists with the aim of supporting and encouraging children.

The Revolutionary Youth Union branch in Aleppo formed a team of psychological support specialists with the aim of supporting and encouraging children affected by the earthquake, and working to draw a smile on their faces in the shelters established in schools and mosques.

The head of the Culture and Information Office in the branch, Ahmed Helal, said in a statement to SANA reporter: This team is a youth initiative, with the aim of providing all forms of psychological, social and emotional support to those affected by the earthquake, and is also interested in providing various activities, plays and educational seminars in an effective manner.

In her turn, Waad Al-Ali, a member of the management of the Social and Cultural Club, stated that the team members work to provide positive and healing ideas for the troubled feelings of children and raise their spirits, through cooperation and coordination with various official and educational agencies to mitigate the effects of stress and psychological trauma.

For her part, Aya Ghazal, a human development trainer, indicated that the team targets all age groups, with a focus on children, in addition to adolescents, adolescents, and parents.

Regarding the content of the activities, the volunteer, Rama Askif, explained that the team worked to provide a special space for children to express themselves through drawing and singing, in addition to performing educational plays, emphasizing the importance of personal hygiene and holding competitions.

As for the problems they faced, volunteer Alia Al-Ahma said: “At first, we found it difficult to deal with the children because they are from different environments, and they were shocked by what happened with them, but soon they got used to us and started participating in most of the activities such as drawing, singing and dancing, and today their number reached 151 children.” .

At the al-Basil facility shelter, Mrs. Umm Imad saw that her two children were going through a difficult situation and great fear, but through these activities she began to see happiness and joy on their faces, while Mrs. Amina Akkad, the mother of four children, found in these activities a way out for them after what they had experienced as a result of the earthquake.
