José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation of Spain, explained in an interview in Panorama Mundial why the Spanish government is opening the doors to all opponents of the Daniel Ortega regime who have lost their Nicaraguan nationality after being expelled of his country.
The diplomat stated that "any Latin American, any Nicaraguan who finds himself subjected to this infamous penalty for defending freedom, for defending democracy, for defending human rights, will always have the cover of Spanish nationality, and Spain will be his home, if that's how you want it."
