Amit Isman refers for the first time to the coalition's legislation • "The law enforcement system will not be the same again"

State Attorney Amit Isman comes out for the first time against coalition legislation.

In the letter he distributed today (Sunday) to the prosecutors against the law of the M.A.S., he wrote that "There should be no mistake about the meaning of the bill that is on the agenda - the enforcement system will not remain as it is.

A serious injury to the independence of the enforcement system."

"The lifeblood of a prosecution in a democratic country is its independence and independence from political factors," State Attorney Amit Isman wrote to the prosecutors.

In reference to the draft law of the National Intelligence Service that would transfer the Department of Police Investigations to the control of the Minister of Justice, the proposal of MK Moshe Saada of the Likud, Isman writes "As long as the private bill is accepted, and according to it, the National Intelligence Service, which is an investigative and prosecutorial body, will be subordinated to a political level, not only that independence This will be weakened, but the independence of the prosecution and the rule of law will be severely damaged.

It will take away its independence from the law enforcement system, and the law enforcement system will never be the same again.

Without independence, we will not be able to provide the citizens of the country with the unique service of equal, professional and impartial law enforcement."

The state attorney also added and wrote that he intends to come into contact with the decision-makers, even though they have the authority to change the structures of the enforcement agencies, because "the very establishment of a body, whose main purpose is to investigate the attorney's office and attorneys, which is subject to a political level and not to the "regular" investigative bodies - the Israel Police or the Civil Service Commission - Not only will it harm the independence of the prosecution, but it will have a chilling effect on the entire prosecution and attorneys, and in particular those who handle sensitive cases and cases of governmental corruption."

Isman also wrote, "This move, not only will not improve the prosecutor's office, but will weaken it and turn it into a body that is afraid and reluctant to deal with the difficult cases and issues that are placed before it - day by day, hour by hour."
