Monday appeared in
Le Monde
an astonishing platform of signatories declaring themselves “scientists” and precisely demanding that in the name of “science”, the terms of the debate on immigration be completely reformulated.
One found among the signatories the fine flower of worldly progressivism and a mass of figures belonging to what one could call the "lumpenintelligentsia", but nevertheless claiming to be listened to religiously.
The title of the column testified to a somewhat Lyssenkoist spirit of seriousness: “It is urgent to restore reason and democratic debate in the treatment of migration issues”
.
Their words are intended to be without appeal.
