According to Palestinian sources, another Palestinian was shot during an Israeli military operation in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said on Thursday that the victim was a 15-year-old boy who was "shot in the back".

The incident took place in the village of Assun in the center of the West Bank.

The Israeli army confirmed the operation.

Soldiers intervened after firecrackers were fired at passing Israeli cars in Assun.

The soldiers were attacked with Molotov cocktails and then shot at "several suspects," according to the Israeli military.

The city mayor said the youths threw stones.

The situation between Israel and the Palestinians is currently extremely tense, and violence breaks out again and again.

According to Palestinian sources, a 22-year-old Palestinian was shot dead during an Israeli military operation near the city of Jericho on Wednesday.

Earlier on Sunday, two young Israeli settlers were killed in the West Bank.

According to the Palestinian Red Cross, hundreds of Palestinians were injured in the subsequent riots by Israeli settlers.

The conflict was recently further fueled by Israel's new, extreme right-wing government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The latter had recently announced that it would retrospectively legalize several settlements that had been built in the West Bank in violation of international law and without the permission of the Israeli government.

Israel conquered the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967.

More than 475,000 Israeli settlers live there today.
