The family of two brothers killed during a traffic check by a police officer near the Pont-Neuf in Paris in April 2022 was received on Friday by the two investigating judges in charge of this file, we learned from the lawyer for the civil parties.

For three hours, the two investigating magistrates took stock of the investigations and listened to the family of the victims, who were received for the first time, Me Eddy Arneton told AFP.

It is a family affected, which is still suffering

” and which remains “

vigilant, like myself

”, he added.

Self-defense

We can see that there is still consideration for the civil parties, which is the least of things, on the part of the judicial institution, and we expect justice to be courageous”, developed

Mr. Arneton.

This crime must be sanctioned by a judicial decision which will establish the criminal responsibility of this man for intentional homicide

”, he estimated.

On the evening of April 24, 2022, a few hours after Emmanuel Macron's re-election, the driver of a vehicle, Fadjigui, 25, and his 31-year-old brother, Boubacar, a front passenger, were killed by a police officer during a a traffic check.

A rear passenger of the car, which ended its race on the Pont-Neuf, was injured.

The police officer, 24 years old at the time of the events, was indicted on April 27 for intentional homicide concerning the driver and intentional violence by a person in charge of public authority which resulted in death without intention to give it with regard to the front passenger.

He was placed under judicial control with in particular the prohibition to carry a weapon.

A reenactment was organized in June 2022 to clarify the conditions under which the peacekeeper opened fire on the car which started and allegedly ran into a police patrol which was approaching for a check.

The officer who fired was the only one armed with an assault rifle that evening.

According to elements of the investigation revealed by Mediapart and Liberation, he invoked self-defense, after firing ten times.

His deadly bullets hit the victims from the side and the rear, a trajectory which does not seem compatible with this thesis of self-defense.
