British and Europeans alone represent 44% of investments. The American records complete the podium.

Nearly 10,900 direct jobs were created by foreign investment in Île-de-France in 2022, a "

historic level over the last twenty years

", welcomed Tuesday the one-stop shop Choose Paris Region, responsible for promoting the region.

The number of direct jobs created increased by 7% compared to 2021, i.e. 700 more jobs.

The 2022 total is 100 more jobs than that of 2020, a year which had benefited from a “

post-Brexit effect

”.

"

Since 2016, more than 7,000 positions have been opened in Île-de-France thanks to Brexit

", underlined Choose Paris Region.

In six years, more than 400 files from the United Kingdom have been studied by the region.

European investors, including the British, topped the list of foreign investments made in Île-de-France in 2022, with nearly 44% of investments, followed by North America - including the United States, which created dozens jobs in Île-de-France, like the American bank JPMorgan.

Half of European investments directed to decision-making centers

The establishments of companies in the financial sector are numerous: “

Paris has become a central financial center in Europe.

The financial ecosystem is favorable there and audit firms or foreign collection agencies, for example, decide to come here

,” said Lionel Grotto, Managing Director of Choose Paris Region.

Of the European investments, half concern decision-making centres, to the detriment of investments in production sites.

The other French regions are well identified in very specific sectors.

In Île-de-France, we are struggling to attract investors in production, but we hope to win at least one big project to reindustrialize our territory

, ”explained the regional promotion agency.

With the Rugby World Cup this year and the Olympic Games in 2024 as a driving force, the region will benefit from "a

great showcase for the whole world

", noted Mr. Grotto.
