A 36-year-old man died in an accident near Sulzemoos on Thursday evening.
According to the police, the motorcyclist was overlooked by the driver of a pickup truck.
Sulzemoos – A serious traffic accident occurred in Buchwald near Bogenried on Thursday evening, in which one person died.
At the intersection where state road 2051 between Wiedenzhausen and Altstetten branches off onto state road 2054 to Sulzemoos, a motorcycle and the van of a pipe and sewer cleaning company collide.
At around 5:30 p.m., the van driver, a 29-year-old man from the Starnberg district, was driving on State Road 2051 in the direction of Wiedenzhausen.
At the junction with state road 2054, he wanted to turn left onto it in order to continue in the direction of Sulzemoos.
Here, for reasons that have not yet been clarified, he overlooked a 36-year-old motorcyclist coming from Wiedenzhausen on State Road 2051, as the police announced in their press report.
As a result, both vehicles collided.
In the collision, both vehicles caught fire and had to be extinguished by the Sulzemoos fire brigade.
The motorcyclist was so badly injured in the accident that first responders and the rescue service began to revive the man on site.
Despite best efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
The scene of the accident was cordoned off.
An expert was called in to investigate the accident.
Roads in the affected area were closed for several hours.
The fire brigades from Sulzemoos, Welshofen and Wiedenzhausen as well as the rescue service and a rescue helicopter were deployed.
