New Delhi

We expected to find an editorial office like the others, a kind of hive populated by busy journalists behind their computers.

But on this early afternoon, the newspaper's director and founder, Meena Kotwal, is alone in her office, her 3-year-old daughter cradled in her arms.

I have two children.

My daughter and The Mooknayak”,

explains this 33-year-old woman, containing a burst of laughter.

Meena launched, in 2021, this online newspaper specializing in the news of the untouchables and the lower castes.

The media covers the attacks and discrimination suffered every day by thousands of Indians whose sole fault is that of being born badly.

Coming from the community of untouchables also called dalits, Meena was initially the only one to publish articles.

Today she heads an editorial team of 17 journalists.

She invested with her husband nearly 10,000 euros, the fruit in particular of her savings after two years in the Hindi service of the BBC.
