In a trailer posted on its social networks on Wednesday evening, the streaming platform promises a "faithful adaptation" to the original books by JK Rowling.

The rumor had been circulating for a few days, the information has just been made official.

In a short trailer posted on social media on Wednesday evening, streaming platform HBO Max confirmed that it had reached an agreement with JK Rowling to adapt the seven Harry

Potter

books as a series.

The franchise, which had already been a worldwide success in the 2000s in the cinema, - the films had grossed 7.7 billion dollars worldwide from 2001 to 2011 -, will therefore be completely renewed.

The project of HBO, in partnership with Warner Bros Discovery, is therefore to spread this new series over ten years, according to Reuters, and to devote one season per volume.

All with a whole new cast of actors.

“I look forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only offered by a long-running television series,”

JK Rowling enthused in a press release.

The seven Harry Potter books have sold more than 600 million copies worldwide.

While the deal delights the bestselling author, it divides fans of the franchise, some of whom remain very attached to the cinematographic works and the actors playing the key characters of the wizarding universe.

Like Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint or Emma Watson.

To reassure them, HBO Max promises a

"faithful adaptation"

to the books.

For its part, Warner Bros did not give more information on the broadcast date.
