A new system has just been adopted during the last metropolitan council in order to enhance the heritage linked to the Loire.
Fourteen municipalities bordering this river will be able to benefit from subsidies for restoration or enhancement projects related to the banks.
Nantes Métropole provides an envelope of two million euros by the end of the mandate.
"This is a new commitment for the metropolis which, I believe, is equipping itself with a singular and unique system to help the heritage of the Loire which makes our identity", welcomes Anthony Descloziers, elected in particular
in charge of the Loire and the heritage.
Which municipalities are concerned by these subsidies?
Le Pellerin, Saint-Jean-de-Boiseau, La Montagne, Bouguenais, Rezé, Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, Basse-Goulaine, Couëron, Indre, Saint-Herblain, Nantes, Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire, Thouaré- sur-Loire and Mauves-sur-Loire.
In 2015, a major public debate entitled “Nantes, the Loire and us” highlighted the demand of the inhabitants to preserve and enhance the maritime heritage.
This initiative led to the production of an inventory listing the tangible and intangible heritage of the Rives de Loire.
Naturally, the new support fund set up is an extension of these actions.
"
The objective is to set up financial aid for investment but also for scientific and technical engineering, because we realize that the difficulty for project promoters is to create projects and find the means to be accompanied
", explains the elected metropolitan and mayor of Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire.

Up to €400,000 in aid
The aid may relate to "
projects to safeguard endangered heritage, restoration or
rehabilitation of old built heritage protected as historical monuments or identified
in the PLUm (local metropolitan urban plan)
", details the metropolis in a communicated.
The amount varies according to the stages.
For the emergence phase (inventory, pre-programming of a project), the metropolis finances 30% of the cost of the service with a ceiling of €15,000 for a public project.
Concerning diagnostic assistance (support for feasibility studies), this, also 30%, is limited to €35,000 for a public project.
Aid for work or aid for “heritage in danger” can reach 400,000 €.
In addition to the financial aspect, the metropolis is setting up a working group made up of representatives of the 24 metropolitan municipalities to “
implement intermunicipal projects to promote heritage
”.
