An alarming finding.
At a time when investments in infrastructure (optical fiber or 5G) have never been so vital for a Europe worried about its digital vassalization, European operators are sticking their tongues out.
This is the finding of the study conducted by the Molinari Economic Institute, a liberal think-tank that Le Figaro was able to consult exclusively.
"European telecoms are penalized by unsuitable taxation and regulations as well as by the lack of guidance from long-term savings to corporate financing"
, believes Nicolas Marques, its managing director.
A brief look at the market capitalizations of the sector is enough to be convinced of this.
With the exception of Deutsche Telekom, which benefits from the holding of more than 50% of the American operator T-Mobile, the operators of the Old Continent, including Orange and Telefonica, are now left behind.
