The mayoress of Marbella (Málaga, 150,725 inhabitants), Ángeles Muñoz, has informed the Senate that the recent change in her assets is due to "a donation of shares" made by her husband, Lars Gunnar Broberg, who died last March.
In a letter presented this Tuesday, April 11, the PP councilor reports that the changes that occurred in July 2020 are due to a family situation of serious illness that occurred in the spring of that year and that they are registered in the Mercantile Registry and the Junta de Andalucía.
She also her, that she informed the Upper House in November 2022 at the time that she was told that she should do it "during the legislature and not at its term."

The update of the declaration of assets of the mayoress of Marbella, carried out in mid-November last year, came just a month after the National Court prosecuted her husband and his son, Joakim Broberg, for a plot related to drug trafficking and money laundering.
It included the increase in the ownership of various assets, such as a house in Sweden, which became 100% owned while before it was 50% owned, the same as occurred with other real estate —a plot, a berth and an industrial warehouse— of the ones that went from having half to his complete possession.
The notification to the Senate unleashed a political storm at the local level, making the atmosphere even more difficult in the Marbella Town Hall, and also at the regional level.

The PSOE later requested that the Upper House initiate an investigation to find out if the councilor had violated the Code of Conduct, a step that the body had never taken and that it agreed to, for the first time, in February of this year.
Then a working group composed of different phases started.
The first provided that the parties could request the documentation that was necessary to clarify the matter and, in fact, the socialist party requested both from her and from the municipalities of Marbella and Benahavís —where Muñoz was a councilor—, different documents.
One of them is the one that the councilor delivered this Tuesday, where she explains that the origin of the growth of her heritage is due to a donation from her husband in July 2020 as a result of the disease that was detected in March of that same year.
And that he carried out the procedures to inform both the Mercantile Registry and the Junta de Andalucía.

In addition, he highlights "the slanderous writing" of the PSOE in the Senate, with a statement that, he emphasizes, is made "knowing that they are false."
"Therefore, I can only affirm that in my political experience I have never seen a document presented before this House with a greater number of defamatory assessments, lies and dishonorable comments whose sole objective is to intensify the PSOE's campaign of harassment against this senator and the electoral strategy of trying to cloud the image of the municipal government, the City Council and the city of Marbella”, concludes Muñoz.
The Socialists have held an act this morning in the town of Malaga where their spokesman in Congress, Patxi López, has defended the candidacy of José Bernal for mayor of Marbella.
"It is time for Marbella to recover its dignity at the hands of the socialists and at the hands of José Bernal", López said in statements collected by Europa Press, which has said that Ángeles Muñoz does not answer questions about her heritage.
"What she is doing is obstructing the investigation itself," she pointed out.
Bernal, for his part, has demanded explanations about "the connections of the Marbella City Council with this matter that is being judged in the National Court of drug trafficking, money laundering and criminal organization",
