A super rare
vintage car
they found in a garage after almost 50 years is going to sell for a
staggering amount.
The extremely limited edition
Facel Vega HK 500
, one of the fastest vehicles of its generation, will be auctioned for a massive amount.
Its right-hand drive makes it
one of 96 models
to wash up on British shores,
the Daily Star reports.
Its right-hand drive makes it one of only 96 models to reach British shores (H&H Classics).
Left-hand drive models have sold for between $60,000 and $70,000, but this one
could cost much more.
The rarer models are worth more than that.
The 1964 Facel Vega Facel II coupe retails for
$360,000
and a similar model from two years earlier costs
$260,000.
The engine, which still has its original Brunswick Blue paint and gray upholstery, has been stored in a garage in Flintshire, Wales
for 47 years.
It will go up for auction later this month in Derbyshire, reports
Daily Star.
A mechanical jewel
Mike Davis, Senior Specialist at auctioneers
H&H Classics
, said: "This found vehicle is an absolute gem. Finding such a complete car hidden away in a garage for such a long period of time is a very special moment."
He added: “As rare as it is elegant in equal measure, this right-hand drive HK1 has the makings of an incredibly rewarding project.
Having spent much of its life in hiding, the HK500
has lost none of its charm
and would be a great alternative purchase for those who find a Ferrari or Aston Martin too mainstream."
And closes: "Being such a complete example and coming to the unreserved auction, we expect to see a considerable level of interest in this rare and highly collectible lot," says
Daily Star.
The HK 500 was designed to compete with the Ferrari 250 GTE, the Maserati 3500GT and the Aston Martin DB4 (H&H Classics).
Over the years, celebrities such as
Pablo Picasso, Sir Stirling Moss and François Truffaut
are believed to have owned such a car.
The HK 500 was originally designed to compete in the same league as the Ferrari 250 GTE, Maserati 3500GT and Aston Martin DB4.
The Facel Vega
will be auctioned on April 26
in Buxton.
No estimate has been given for how much it might cost one lucky car lover.
