general mobilization

" to deal with the jihadist attacks hitting the country.

The authorities also decreed the "
warning
" which, according to the security source, brings together a set of measures decided by the Head of State aimed at "
ensuring the government's freedom of action (...) and guaranteeing the security mobilization operations or the bringing into action of the armed forces

According to the law on the organization of national defence, "

Burkina Faso, the scene of two military coups in 2022, has been caught since 2015 in a spiral of jihadist violence that appeared in Mali and Niger a few years earlier and which has spread beyond their borders.
Last week, 44 civilians were killed in an attack on two villages in the northeast of the country near the Niger border.
The violence has claimed more than 10,000 lives over the past seven years - civilians and soldiers - according to NGOs, and some two million displaced.
