The Republican-led Florida Legislature on Thursday approved a ban on most abortions after six weeks and sent the bill to Gov. Ron DeSantis, who said he will sign it into law.
Final approval came after a marathon hearing in the state House of Representatives, which passed the proposal along GOP lines after the Florida Senate approved the bill on April 3.

Democrats vigorously opposed the legislation, but were vastly outnumbered by the Republican majority in both chambers.
The Republican speaker of the state House of Representatives, Paul Renner, closed access to the public after some people began to protest.
The measure, known as SB 300, prohibits abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, with certain exceptions up to 15 weeks, in cases of rape or incest.
The norm does not alter the 15 weeks established in the current law for cases in which the life or health of the mother is in danger.
