It was a Thursday of bad news for the world champions in the Europa League.
First,
Paulo Dybala
suffered a muscle injury in Rome's loss to Feyenoord.
A while later, the image was even more shocking because
Lisandro Martínez
had to be removed from the pitch by his teammates at La Scaloneta -and occasional rivals in the duel between Manchester United and Sevilla- Gonzalo Montiel and Marcos Acuña.
El Licha had the ball under control when he felt pain in his right ankle and fell to the ground.
It is not ruled out that the injury is in the Achilles heel.
Dybala was also injured
Roma
lost much more than a game in Rotterdam:
Paulo Dybala
was injured in the 1-0 loss to
Feyenoord in the first leg of the
Europa League
quarterfinals
.
The world champion with the National Team in Qatar suffered a
muscle injury
and left the field after 24 minutes, when the game was still tied 0-0.
With a frustrated face, which he covered with his shirt on the way to the substitute bench, Dybala was replaced by Stephan El Shaarawy.
When sitting in one of the seats on the side of the field, Dybala touched his
right adductor
while speaking to his teammates and collaborators from Roma.
Now, the Cordovan must undergo medical studies to find out if he will recover for the rematch next Thursday at the Olympic Stadium in the Italian capital.
This is the 29-year-old's third muscle injury of the season, a problem that put his participation in the World Cup in doubt that Argentina won on December 18 and in which he kicked one of the penalties in the decisive series with France.
Bad night for Rome
Feyenoord of the Netherlands took a slim lead (1-0) in their Europa League quarter-final tie against Roma, thanks to Dutch midfielder Mats Wieffer's volley goal in the 54th
minute
.
It was not a good night for the Italian team at the De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam, in what was the reissue of the Conference League final that the Romans won.
Not so much because of the result, but because of the loss of Paulo Dybala, the most important man in José Mourinho's scheme;
Englishman Tammy Abraham's shoulder
injury ;
the penalty missed by its captain,
Lorenzo Pellegrini
, in the first half that could mean the advantage just before the break and the clear chances that the team missed in the second half, such as a header from the Brazilian Roger Ibáñez that was deflected off the crossbar by Oussama Idrissi, the man who provided the assist for the only goal.
