A 21-year-old Massachusetts National Guardsman is responsible for leaking the classified documents from the Pentagon - this is what officials told NBC News today (Thursday).
The young man, Jack Cheira, is the administrator of a private online group where the leaked documents were shared.
Chiera is a member of the intelligence division of the Massachusetts National Guard, according to a New York Times investigation.
Officials told NBC News that they have been closely monitoring him for some time and that his arrest is imminent.
The leaked documents included, among other things, sensitive information concerning Israel, according to which it is preparing to send "lethal" weapons to Ukraine.
Senior officials in the US Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs spoke in recent days with their counterparts in Israel and emphasized that they are conducting an investigation into the leak and that they are committed to the relationship with Israel.
