What do Steve McQueen, Elvis Presley, Ringo Starr, Jacob Elordi or even Harry Styles have in common - apart from hordes of enamored fans?
A jewel, or rather a medal.
But not just any, that of Saint Christopher, patron saint of travellers.
Present in Christian iconography from the 11th century, he is represented crossing a stream and carrying the child Christ on his shoulder.
In terms of tradition, it is customary to offer this medal to those leaving for a long or difficult journey, and it is not uncommon for motorists to hang it on the rear view mirror of their vehicle.
The manly touch of McQueen style
That of Steve McQueen was offered to him by his first wife, actress Neile Adams, who had it written on the back "To separate is to die a little bit".
Following this mantra to the letter, the actor has never left his medal, in the city as on the screen, so well that we can see him in
The Great Escape
(1963) and
The Thomas Crown Affair
( 1968).
