The US office offers $40,000 for information on Mónica de León, kidnapped on November 29 in the municipality of Tepatitlán

The FBI has revealed this Friday a video in which the kidnapping of the US citizen Mónica de León is observed on November 29 in Tepatitlán, in the State of Jalisco.

The 30-year-old woman was abducted as she was walking her dog home from work.

The security service has since maintained an offer of $40,000 for information to help locate her.

In the video released by the FBI, you can see how the woman walks the dog on Juan Pablo II street, southwest of the municipality.

After going through the Gym Fit4Life sports center, De León leaves the camera frame.

Subsequently, the US security service focuses on three cars passing through that same street, which it links to the vehicles used for the kidnapping: a silver Volkswagen Jetta, a gray Dodge Charger and a white Chevrolet Suburban.

The US Department of State has the State of Jalisco in its sights.

The office has a list in which it exposes its travel recommendations to the 32 territories of Mexico under a list of four labels: from one, where the usual precautions must be exercised;

until four, where he recommends not to travel.

Jalisco is at level three, labeled "reconsider the trip."

Next to the name of the demarcation, it explains that there may be "risk of crime or kidnapping."

The authority adds to the territory along with Baja California, Chihuahua, Durango, Guanajuato, Morelos and Sonora.

Among the names, only Campeche and Yucatán are spared from entering risk areas.

Mexico and the United States have been involved in a controversy over violence.

This debate has been fueled in recent weeks, after the kidnapping of four US citizens in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, an event ended with the discovery of two of them dead and two alive;

three Civil Protection workers from the municipality for their alleged involvement;

and, so far, nine implicated.

The number of Americans who arrived in Mexico temporarily or permanently increased by 69.9% in 2022 compared to the figure for 2019, the year before the start of the covid-19 pandemic.

The data went from 11,594 to 19,122, a difference of 7,528 for people who have been granted at least one of the residence cards that allow them to live in the country on a regular basis.
