Le Monde
have looked into the travel expenses of the former Belgian prime minister and his team.
They are very high, four times higher than those of its predecessors.
For 2024, a budget being prepared provides for 1.985 million euros, up 34% compared to this year.
Beyond the amounts involved, certain trips raise questions as the EU has embarked on the green transition.
Short journeys by plane-taxi which could have been made by train, in particular to Paris and Strasbourg, are thus pointed out.
Or, this trip to Beijing in November 2022 to meet the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, which cost 460,000 euros.

In response to these criticisms, Charles Michel multiplied the interviews in the Belgian press.
