Dan Lallier, from Alberta, Canada, was fishing the famous Fraser River in British Columbia with fishing guide Yves Bisson, and had a prize he will never forget: he caught a once-in-a-lifetime fish: a sturgeon estimated to weigh 270 kilos and is 100 years old.
“After jumping out of the water twice during the fight, we all stared at each other in disbelief at the sheer size,” fishing guide Yves Bisson told

.
"We knew it was something special
. "
The fishing guide shared a clip on TikTok of his catch, showing the enormous size of the fish.
After capturing it, they tagged it and returned it to the river.
The surprise
“Look at this, this fish is 11 feet (almost 3.5 meters), and it probably weighs 600 pounds (270 kilos),” he said, holding the creature.
“We were just
able to tag it
, it has probably never been caught and now we are going to put it back in the river,” said the happy fisherman.
According to Yves, the fish was
a sturgeon
, a species often referred to as "living dinosaurs" since they date back to the Jurassic era.
Yves, who says he has caught more than 22,000 sturgeon in his 20 years as a guide, was fishing with his friend Dan Lallier when they spotted the "special" fish.
“After jumping out of the water twice during the fight, we all
stared at each other in disbelief at the sheer size
,” he told

.
The pair tagged the fish before returning it to the water, where it slowly swam away.
"This is very normal behavior for the sturgeon to be very still and docile in shallow water after being released," Yves told the outlet.
And he detailed: “They are the strongest freshwater fish in the world and the mortality rate for angling is 0.012%, so they basically never die, and our world-renowned tagging program has the data to back it all up. this".
"This giant fish swam away after being released, something the video didn't show, and I'm sure it will live another 100 years," Yves closed.
