Meaden was hospitalized yesterday in serious condition following the collapse of his lungs, apparently caused by the use of electronic cigarettes.
Earlier today, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
"About 11:00 p.m. friends came to bring me food. Everything was fine. I told the nurse that I was going to eat and I also told Midan," shared the father, "I asked the nurse to keep an eye on him. They asked me to get out of there. There were six people around him. After an hour we were informed that the efforts were unsuccessful."
After the boy's death, Schneider Hospital said that initial details of the case indicate that the boy apparently disconnected himself from the ECMO machine for an unknown reason.
"He had a close sister. It's hard for me to believe that the boy tore out the tube of the ampoule," said father Yariv.
"His neck was constantly scratching from the stickers. It doesn't take much for it to come off. It needs to be monitored all the time," he added, "The boy was in intensive care on a lot of medication and he hasn't slept since the early hours of the morning."
