Three motorists were killed Friday in shootings tens of miles away in what Texas authorities are calling a “targeted” attack allegedly linked to an outlaw motorcycle gang.

The Huntsville Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office separately reported the victims are men ages 32, 43 and 69.

A fourth 61-year-old person was injured in the second incident, the police department said.

For now there are no detainees.

The first shooting occurred on Interstate 45 in Spring, about 20 miles (about 30 kilometers) north of Houston, around 11 a.m., according to the sheriff's office.

Responding officers discovered a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound, who was taken to a local hospital.

Although he was initially expected to survive, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m.

A little more than an hour after the first shooting was reported, agents from different agencies responded to another shooting on the same interstate but near Huntsville, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) north of Houston, according to authorities.

Agents found three victims with gunshot wounds.

Two of them were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third was airlifted to a local hospital.

Police did not release his status.

The three fatalities wore clothing that linked them to an illegal motorcycle gang, according to the authorities, who did not offer what group it is and what acts they carry out.

Investigators believe that both shootings are related.

"At this time we believe there is no threat to the general public as the shootings appear to be a targeted gang related attack," the Huntsville Police Department said.
