The Highway Code sanctions the fact of placing in the field of vision of the driver of a vehicle in circulation a device in operation equipped with a screen and not constituting a driving or navigation aid.
The driver at fault incurs a fine of up to 1500 euros, the seizure and then the confiscation of the device.
In the event of conviction, this contravention automatically gives rise to the reduction of three points of the driving licence.
Thus the use of any type of device that is not a driving aid device or a GPS is prohibited by criminal law.
It cannot therefore be otherwise for any screen device or so-called “head-up display” providing information directly in the field of vision which would have other functionalities than those restrictively authorized by law.
