Riding on this trend, in June 2019, the town hall of Paris announced, to everyone's surprise, its desire to create four urban forests on
"emblematic sites"
: forecourt of the Hôtel-de-Ville, behind the Opera Garnier, place Henri-Frenay on the forecourt of the Gare de Lyon and tracks on the banks of the Seine.
A verdant drawing representing a kind of undergrowth, with the facade of the Hôtel de Ville in the background, illustrated this statement in a totally improbable way.
The town hall also announced, as part of its policy of "greening" the capital in the face of global warming, various initiatives: urban agriculture on the roofs, oasis schoolyards, green facades... and above all a vast development project from the Trocadero - Military School axis, with planting of trees on the Iéna bridge.
