Diplomats and NGOs have tried to play the card of Eid al-Fitr, the holiday which marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan on Friday evening, to obtain a truce.

Without success.
In recent days, countries with direct influence on one or other of the belligerents have also tried to exert pressure.
Egypt has thus indicated its support for the idea of a truce, as has the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Cairo is reputed to be close to General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, de facto leader of Sudan since the putsch of 2021, while Abu Dhabi is considered to be one of the general's godfathers...
